ARCHITECTURAL SERVICES

This page will provide a bit of information about myself and my services.

My work is primarily custom residential, with an emphasis on environmentally sensitive design solutions. I am only able to work on one or two projects per year due to employment obligations in education.

Here are some obligatory images of past and ongoing projects

Images of remodeled and new projects...

As a sole proprietor, over 50 projects have been completed and built. Primarily, work has been custom residential with other occupancy types mixed in. Some past work
includes pro-bono work at the non-profit, Los Angeles Eco-Village. In the last few years, (2006 - 2009), I have focused on being my own client, which enables me to increase the level of sustainable features. Work included two projects in Northern California, a duplex in Southern California and 10plex rehab in Oregon. I also completed work for a private client that included remodeling on a house in Echo Park in 2006, and a small garage to rec room conversion project in Venice in 2008. In the Echo Park project, I included a custom passive cooling system.

Extensive remodel of lower level, gutting of second level to be remodeled and addition of the third level. The lowest level qualified as subterranean for this project.

A custom remodel where the living room is open to dining, trusses were created to open the living room ceiling and the corner fireplace with brick hearth created
a cozy focal point for this home.

The living area of a Mar Vista residential project is shown here. Shelves with built-in lighting, skylights for natural lighting, and glass block are apparent. The picture immediately below is of the project's kitchen.

2nd story addition and first floor remodel project for the Valdez family. Sharon Valdez is seated in the living room, which opens to the dining area.

Another extensive remodel with a second story addition. Notice the clerestory windows that provide light into what would otherwise be a dark interior stairwell.

Remodel project photo in main unit of duplex. A pantry was added with space for microwave, spice rack, and books. The stove was moved from an opposite wall to make room for a doorway. Butcher block counters were placed on reused cabinet frames which got new doors and fresh bright Zero VOC paint.

The new office in the Venice duplex main unit is highly customized for the owner/occupant. The concrete floor received soy-based stain and plant based sealer. Curtains are hemp. Zero VOC paint is on the walls.
